Old Barn in The Autumn Rain

an old barn standing all alone
among faded, summer growth...overgrown
autumn highlighted in the puddling rain
the look of solemn sadness, forebodes of grief, of pain

once there was beauty, among this desolate place
once there was life, from the human race
majestic greatness, now withered to gray
while the plundered land stands desolate, in mute dismay

what does the rain conceal, this dark and stormy day
only a voice forever silent, come what may
farewell, old barn, may you find peace at last
as man reflects on his future, may he repent his past~

  6. A very moody painting, Jan. I love the autumnal colors. The poem and the painting are like a soft sigh. Somethings can not be held onto forever... But the old barn still lingers, a reminder of bygone days. Beautiful words and image, Jan.
